Pharma Zephyr 2008







On October 18th & 19th 2008, the first ever state level workshop of Indian Pharmaceutical Association Students’ Forum [IPA-SF] was hosted by Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences [SIPS] at GANDHINAGAR, GUJARAT. This was a state level seminar on Recent Trends in Pharmaceutical Education & Research Entitled "PHARMA ZEPHYR 2008"; a joint venture of SIPS & IPA-SF.
PHARMA ZEPHYR 2008 was Inaugurated by the Reverent Shri H.G. Koshia [Joint Commissioner Food & Drugs Control Administration, Government of Gujarat] & Dr. Krishnakumar N. Patel [Co-Ordinator;Indian Society of Pharmacognosy]. In inaugural function IPA-SF was introduced by IPA-SF founder member Mr Kapil Khambholja. On the first day delegates experienced the breeze of technical knowhow from eminent resource persons, Dr.Avani F Amin[ Principal, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, Ahmedabad] & Dr.Vikas Shirsath [Chief Scientific Officer, Oxygen Health Care]. Valediction ceremony was addressed by Dr.Madhabhai Manordas Patel [Ex-Vice Chancellor North Gujarat University] & Dr. N.J.Patel [Vice President;Indian Pharmaceutical Association Gujarat]. Dr.S.Mohan, the Convener of the event and the Principal of the institute played key role in convincing the management of institute for sponsoring the event and over all organization of the event. Mr. Rishil Kathawala, a III B.Pharm student of the institute and the Gujarat representative of IPA-SF was the key link between the institute and IPASF. He also promoted IPASF during event and started establishing links with colleges across state. Mr. Karan Shroff, Secretary of IPASF and Mr. Jatin Gala, IPASF Maharashtra Representative attended the event as representatives of IPASF.

More than 500 delegates from more then 20 colleges of Gujarat attended this seminar. Event involved > 110 Poster Presentations, 40 Oral Presentations ,Pharma Marketing , Pharma Modeling competitions.All the delegates sincerely appreciated the efforts made to feel this breeze ;this breeze is really going to touch the arcane of talents in them as well as inspire them to become future Pharma Technocrats.

This was really a grand beginning for IPA-SF state level activities. This was the zest that was required. College Co-Ordinates from different parts of Gujarat were selected to strengthen the further activities. Well, This was just the Beginning….!

Typhoid Vaccination at Sikkim


A typhoid vaccination camp had been organised by the Himalyan Pharmacy Instt., Sikkim. It was a joint venture by the State govt. and a Company and IPA-SF.

There were senior students & staff members of the college and the junior students were explained the neccesity of the typhoid vaccine. The state representative, Ayan Dasgupta also shared the experience of suffering from the water born disease which is very common in these hills.

The students gave a miraculous response and over a 100 students participated.

Blood Donation Camp at Nagpur
















A Blood Donation Camp was conducted in Sharad Pawar College of Pharmacy, (formerly Nagpur College of Pharmacy), Nagpur on September, 20, 2008. It was a joint venture between the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the College and Indian Pharmaceutical Association-Students’ Forum with the help of Sainath Blood Bank and Components, Nagpur. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Khandelwal (Director, Sainath Blood Bank and Components, Nagpur) Around 30 units of Blood were collected and students from all years of our college actively participated in the camp. The event was a success as our target of blood units was met. The event was co-coordinated by Prof. R.N. Alaspure (Teacher In charge for NSS activities), Prof. S.P.Wate (Teacher In charge for Cultural Activities) and Mr. Tejas D. Kekatpure (Student Coordinator and Cultural Secretary) in the College. Prof. S.P.Wate stressed on the importance of blood donation and Prof. R.N. Alaspure proposed the vote of thanks.
